I am writing on behalf of Jamie Bassis, who we had the pleasure working with during the 2025/2026 school year. My daughter, Ava, found herself overwhelmed and frustrated with Honors Chemistry but the moment we met Jamie, all of that changed. From the very first session, Ava walked out with a smile, eager to practice at home on her own and feeling much more confident. Jamie not only makes the hour-long session enjoyable with her easy and light demeanor but she has a way of connecting with her students on a personal level, while also preparing them for the highest level of academic success. Jamie also makes herself available for questions and concerns that come up outside of the hour-long session and as a parent, knowing my daughter had access to her all week long was absolutely invaluable! I also found it very easy to book sessions week to week, as Jamie always responded promptly and made every attempt to work with our schedule. There were many nights Ava was up late stressing about an exam the next day, and it was Jamie who gave her many pep talks calm her down and encouraged her to trust in all of her hard work. Ava went from failing many tests, to finishing the year with a high B and doing amazing well on the Regents exam. Jamie is a master of her subject, with all the tools to help students comprehend high level Chemistry and do well in a very challenging course. I am so thankful that we met her and I know the impression Jamie has left on Ava will stay with her forever.
